Fall Festival

Our annual major event is the highly anticipated themed Festival in October. Students of Salt Creek teachers study a composition according to the chosen theme in preparation for the Festival. Three performances on Festival Day give nearly 100 students an opportunity to perform their piece and receive a participation trophy and accolades from family and friends.  Past themes have included such various genres as Sonatas, Dances, Movie Music,  Jazz, Rag and Blues;  and diverse topics like Patriotic Songs, Animals.  Special Festivals have featured pieces we have commissioned from Kevin Olson, Christopher Goldston and in 2015 Robert D. Vandall.

Oct. 21, 2018: Festival of Chopin & Fundraiser for Grant Park Statue

St. John's Lutheran Church
47th St. & Brainard Ave., La Grange IL
Afternoon, Time TBA

The Chicago Chopin Foundation introduced the plan to erect a statue to commemorate the legendary pianist and composer Frédéric Chopin  shortly after the composer's 200th birthday in 2010. The Chicago Park District has approved the plan , and now the Chicago Chopin Foundation  is raising the funds to have the statue built. The statue will be a replica of the memorial in Warsaw, with a surrounding garden  and space for live performances, according to Bob O'Neill of the Grant Park Conservancy.

There is currently no set timeline on when the Chopin statue will be completed.  Once it is erected, however, the statue and small garden will transform Grant Park. Pictures and map illustrations can be found at the following websites:
